Graduation 2023

 

Your Graduation Ceremony will be held on Thursday 16th November at Middlesbrough Town Hall at 11:30am.  

Each student will receive an initial allocation of 3 guest tickets which will be free of charge.

Please make arrangements to arrive at least 1 hour and 45 minutes prior to the ceremony and bring your student ID card if you have one to assist you with registration on the day. If you do not arrive on time your name will be scored off the list for the ceremony and you will not be allowed to enter the venue.

You must register to confirm your attendance and your guest’s attendance online. This can be done through Ede & Ravenscroft. You must have registered by Friday 20th October 2023. If you or your guests have any additional requirements, please also email graduation@mbro.ac.uk. Your tickets will be sent electronically by email. You can either print out your tickets or display your ticket on your phone at the registration desk.

Please select Middlesbrough College as your institution. Your ID is your student number; this can be found on your student card and begins with ‘M’.  

You must order a gown in order to be able to graduate. The deadline to order your gown is Friday 20th October 2023

Please be aware that the College's photographer and videographer will be taking photographs of the ceremony which will be used for promotional advertising purposes. If you are unhappy to have your photograph taken, please can you let a member of the Graduation Team know in advance of your ceremony or email marketing@mbro.ac.uk.

Schedule for ceremonies

11:30am Ceremony

9.00am: Gown Collection and photography are available

10:45am: Middlesbrough Town Hall doors open for guests to take their seats

11:00am: All students to have collected their gowns

11:15am: All guests and graduates must be seated

11:30am: Ceremony begins

12:45pm: Ceremony ends, refreshments are now available from The Crypt

2:30pm: Refreshment area closes

2:45pm: Latest time for photography

3.00pm: Gowns must be returned to Ede & Ravenscroft

How do I register? 

It is essential that you register to confirm your attendance and your guest’s attendance. This can be done here. You must have registered by Friday 20th October 2023.  
 

Tickets 

Your graduate ticket and 3 guest tickets are free of charge. Tickets will be sent to you electronically. The deadline to order your tickets is Friday 20th October 2023.

Hire your gown

You can hire your gown through the Ede & Ravenscroft online booking website. Please put Middlesbrough College as your institution. Please enter your first name, surname and student number. This can be found on your student card and begins with 'M'.

You will need to provide them with details of your height and head measurements. To measure your head for your graduation cap you will need a tape measure. Place the tape approximately one inch above your eyebrow and measure the circumference of your head. Record your measurement by rounding the number to the closest quarter inch.

Hired gowns will be available for collection from the Dance Hall in Middlesbrough Town Hall on the day of your ceremony. Please return your gown after the ceremony

You will be emailed a copy of your gown rental purchase, please bring your email confirmation along with you on the day.

Pre-book your photographs

Ede & Ravenscroft are providing the photography for the ceremonies and you can pre-book your photography package through their online booking website at the same time as you confirm your gown hire.

You will be emailed a copy of your photography package purchase, please bring your email confirmation along with you on the day.

FAQs

You should arrive at Middlesbrough Town Hall at least 1 hour and 45 minutes prior to the start of your ceremony and immediately proceed to the registration desk.

Please note that you will need to bring a form of photo ID with you such as your College student card, driving licence or passport in order to sign in at the registration desk.

Gowns will be collected from the Dance Hall located within Middlesbrough Town Hall. Please note that you will need to bring a form of photo ID with you such as your College student card, driving licence or passport in order to collect your gown.

The photographic service will be available at the Restored Fire Station located within Middlesbrough Town Hall before and after each ceremony until 2:45pm. 

Please dress in smart clothes. Clothes with buttons down the front such as blouses and shirts are recommended in order to secure the hood to the shoulders. Please wear sensible and appropriate footwear.

Students must be wearing a gown in order to graduate. Ede & Ravenscroft is providing the gowning service at Middlesbrough Town Hall. The deadline to order your gown is Friday 20th October 2023.

There are many public car parks in Middlesbrough, the closest being The Cleveland Centre, MIMA and Buxton Street.

Your tickets will be sent electronically by email. You can either print out your tickets or display your tickets on your phone at the registration desk.

Graduates sit in a different area to their guests and must sit in the seat indicated on their seating card- you will be told this seat number at the registration desk. All graduates will be allocated a seat according to their surname and the award they are receiving. You must sit in the seat that has been allocated to you. You will be called to the stage in a particular order and the seating plan is designed for this. If you do not sit in your allocated seat your name will not be called out during the ceremony.

You will be given your seat number at registration. On your seat at the Ceremony there will be a seating card. You must bring your seating card up to the stage when it is your turn to graduate. Please hand your card to the speaker.

Please leave your belongings with your guests.

Stand when the procession music starts and the academic procession enters the main hall and takes their seats on the stage.

At the appropriate time, you will be directed onto the stage where your award will be conferred. Remember to bring your card which will be placed on your seat up with you and hand this to the speaker. You will then be directed by College staff to collect your certificate.

Approximately 1 hour. 

Graduates will join the academic procession.

The stewards will direct graduates to join the procession when appropriate; you will proceed down the centre aisle and out through the door where you should wait for your guests to join you.

Guests should remain in their seats until directed to leave.

After the ceremony, please return your robes to Ede & Ravenscroft in the Dance Hall at The Town Hall.

You and your guests are invited to join us at the end of your ceremony for light refreshments in The Crypt located within Middlesbrough Town Hall.

You must order guest tickets for guests that you would like to bring on the day.

The maximum number of guest tickets available is three per student.
