Andrew Harrison

Lecturer and Programme Leader for Digital Video Production.

Andy has always been passionate about all things video and digital.  After studying for a degree in Film & Television Production at university, Andy enjoyed a variety of roles in the industry including working for the BBC as a camera operator and running his own independent production company.

Andy decided to share his passion with the next generation and began his teaching career at Middlesbrough College as an instructor/ demonstrator for the Media department. After just 3 months in his role, Andy impressed the College and was offered a teaching post whilst studying for his PGCE part time.

Andy said “Studying the PGCE at Middlesbrough College was fantastic. The teaching was wonderful and I was supported by the tutors through the course. I would definitely recommend studying here to anyone wanting to become a qualified teacher.”

From the Level 1 Creative Media Production to the Level 6 BA (Hons) Digital Video Production programme- Andy teaches on an amazing range of courses at Middlesbrough College.

Andy also wrote and developed the BA (Hons) Digital Video Production course, which helped to expand the College’s Higher Education provision.

Andy said “Writing and developing the degree programme has probably been one of the most challenging yet rewarding things I have done so far in my career. I know I can take students further and help them progress within the industry. The course allows the students to gain real industry experience and I have even been able to give some students their first IMBD credit.”

Outside of teaching, Andy works as a freelance cinematographer and editor and has worked on projects such as music videos and adverts.
